The FL7734 solution utilizes Fairchild’s active dimmer driving technology to eliminate flicker and shimmer, providing over 90% dimmer compatibility with leading-edge, trailing-edge, and digital dimmers from various manufacturers. This solution fully complies with NEMA SSL 7A-2013 and ENERGY STAR® standards and offers the ability to freely control dimming curves and input current levels.

The FL7734 is a flyback (or buck-boost) pulse width modulator (PWM) controller that uses advanced primary-side control (PSR) techniques, minimizing the number of external components required for control and ultimately lowering the bill of material (BOM). Developed to meet stringent LED brightness control requirements, the FL7734 utilizes Fairchild’s innovative TRUECURRENT® PSR technology to enable constant current (CC) control with a deviation of less than ±1% over a wide range of input voltage conditions.

Like the FL7733A announced by Electronica last November, the FL7734 can be used in a wide variety of lamps, including GU10, Candel lights, A19, and PAR30/38 bulbs, downlights and flat panel lights, and indoor and outdoor lighting. Both solutions enable precise CC control with deviations of less than 1% under wide input voltage range conditions.

To meet safety regulations and ensure high reliability, the FL7734 device is equipped with overvoltage protection based on voltage sensing conditions VS and VDD, protection against open/short conditions on all pins of the control IC including the output diode and current sensing resistor, and protection against LED open/short and high temperature.
