February 25, 2015 – Analog Devices (www.analog.com, NASDAQ: ADI), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal processing applications, has unveiled a 12-bit, 8-channel ADC/DAC/GPIO combination chip. This newly released chip can be configured by users with their desired combination of functions. The AD5592R ADC/DAC/GPIO combination chip includes a 400 Ksps ADC (Analog-to-Digital Converter), a DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) with a sett time of 6 microseconds (μsec), digital inputs/outputs, and a reference on a single chip. Since the new chip allows users to configure up to eight devices in their desired combination, designers can complete multiple system monitoring and control functions using a single IC. Through a combination of on-chip functions, system designers can reduce Bill of Materials (BOM) costs and increase design portability and reusability with minimal software changes.

The single-chip AD5592R uses a small 2mm × 2mm WLCSP package, saving up to 85% of space compared to discrete implementations. By adopting a small package, the AD5592R is suitable for space-constrained, highly integrated applications such as wired and wireless communication, building management, and general monitoring and control applications, where the freedom to change size and design is critical. Using the newly released model allows for the addition of control and monitoring capabilities within a single component, which not only simplifies the system architecture but also enhances system functionality.
