What's Matter Inc., a Matter specialist, has won the 'AIoT Innovation Award', opening up the possibility for the domestic smart home industry to build a differentiated AIoT ecosystem in the midst of global competition.

Wattsmatter announced that its self-developed 'On-Device AI Edge Controller' won the '2025 AIoT Innovation Award' at the AIoT International Exhibition held at COEX in Seoul from November 26th to 28th.

This award was highly recognized for being the first in Korea to incorporate generative AI capabilities into a Matter-based smart home ecosystem, proving the global competitiveness of Korean smart home technology.

Wattsmatter's AI edge controller was developed with support from the 'Intelligent Home Service Demonstration and Expansion Project' of the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA).

This product features support for Matter 1.4, a global smart home standard, while operating various types of AI models on an on-device basis.

This allows for integrated control of multiple manufacturers' mater devices, including lighting, switches, sensors, and home appliances, and has a local AI computing structure that operates stably even in the event of external internet failure.

In particular, this controller directly performs advanced AI functions within the device, such as natural language processing using a lightweight language model (SLM), vision AI-based recognition of people and objects, and user behavior analysis.

Through this It is evaluated as a key technology that provides a 'zero-click intelligent home experience' that combines voice, sensors, and automation rules, and enables the implementation of an 'Ambient AI home' that predicts the user's intention and operates proactively.

This achievement is seen as a technological milestone that domestic companies should pay attention to, as global big tech companies such as Amazon, Apple, and Google are expected to enter the generative AI-based smart home market in earnest starting in 2026.

Since its establishment in February 2024, Watts Matter has acquired a total of 12 Matter certifications in just two years, establishing itself as the third company in Korea with the most certifications, following LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics.

Additionally, we operate a specialized Matter device shopping mall, ‘ModusHome’, and sell various Matter-based products.

Wattsmatter demonstrated its technological prowess at this exhibition by showcasing eight Matter devices, including radar presence sensors.

On December 3rd, we plan to hold a 'Smart Home/Interior Partners Day' event to strengthen collaboration with domestic smart home, architectural design, and interior design companies.

Through this, the strategy is to accelerate the provision of Korean AIoT standard solutions in preparation for the global smart home market restructuring period in 2026.
