Tempe, Arizona, [March 18, 2015] — Artesyn Embedded Technologies announced today the launch of the AVO200 series dc-dc converter, which increases efficiency up to 94.5 percent for telecom and networking equipment manufacturers. The first two models in this new series are 1/8 brick dc-dc converters with 200 watt capacity that are fully adjustable and address the critical 12 V and 5 V requirements for telecommunications infrastructure. These two models are particularly well-suited for cost-sensitive applications requiring compact space and high current at low voltage, such as wireless, optical or access networks, as well as servers and computing infrastructure.

The AVO200 series converter accommodates an input range of 36 to 75 Vdc, which is the standard across the telecom industry. The 12 V model provides maximum output current of 16.7 A, while the 5 V model delivers maximum output of 40 A. These models exhibit exceptional thermal characteristics over an operating temperature range of 40 to 85 degrees, and are available in open frame or baseplate design, enabling optimized convection or forced air flow cooling.

Artesyn's new AVO200 series converter incorporates a variety of specialized features with ease of design and implementation in mind, including low ripple and noise, fixed switching frequency, high capacitive load capability, pre-bias start-up capability, and remote sense output voltage. All detailed models are mounted through hall terminations, and the new converter is protected against overcurrent, overtemperature and overvoltage conditions. Additionally, the primary side features an enable pin, and the secondary side has remote sense capability and output voltage adjustment functionality. The industry-standard eighth brick form factor dimensions are 58.4 x 22.9 x 9.6 (2.3 x 0.9 x 0.378) for the open frame and 58.4 x 22.9 x 12.7 (2.3 x 0.9 x 0.5) for the baseplate.
