SiTime Launches Highest Performance MEMS Oscillators for Communications, Networking, Storage, Wireless Applications
The Encore-based SiT820X product family provides characteristics such as 600fs phase jitter, 10PPM stability, a 220MHz frequency range, and 1.8V to 3.3V operation.
Sunnyvale, California – May 23, 2011 – SiTime Corporation, an analog semiconductor company, today launched the SiT820X family of MEMS-based programmable oscillators for applications including communications, networking, storage, and wireless. The SiT820X family consists of the SiT8208 and SiT8209 programmable oscillators, operating from 1 MHz to 80 MHz and 80 MHz to 220 MHz, respectively. Both devices deliver unprecedented jitter performance with an integrated RMS phase jitter of 600 fs (femtosecond) when measured over the 12 kHz to 20 MHz range. These devices provide stability of 10 PPM over industrial temperature ranges, which is twice the performance of quartz-based solutions. The SiT820X family comes with a wide range of programmable features supporting over 200 part numbers, all of which serve as drop-in replacements for existing quartz, SAW, and overtone oscillators. SiTime also provides the industry's best lead times by supplying order samples within one week and mass production volumes within 3 to 5 weeks.

Piyush Sevalia, Vice President of Marketing at SiTime, stated, “The SiT820X family demonstrates SiTime’s innovative MEMS technology and unique high-performance analog expertise. All features and specifications of the SiT820X family are designed to the highest standards, offering clear advantages in markets such as communications, networking, storage, and wireless. Combined with high performance, the SiT820X completely eliminates the need for quartz-based timing by providing exceptional flexibility and availability.”
The SiT8208 and SiT8209 provide the following key features:
• Provides typical integrated RMS jitter characteristics of 600fs when measured in the industry-standard SONET-designated 12kHz to 20MHz frequency range
• Best at all frequencies
