SanDisk has emphasized its product design competitiveness in the high-performance storage market by winning international design awards for three consumer storage products. With the increasing use of large amounts of data, the evaluation criteria for storage devices are expanding beyond speed and capacity to include portability, durability, and ease of use.

SanDisk announced on June 1 that the SANDISK Extreme Portable SSD, SANDISK Extreme Fit USB-C Flash Drive, and SANDISK Optimus GX PRO 8100 NVMe SSD won the '2026 Red Dot Design Award'.

This marks SanDisk's fifth Red Dot Design Award win. The company explained that each product was designed with size, material, texture, and ergonomics in mind to meet the demands of everything from everyday data storage to professional work environments.

The SANDISK Extreme portable SSD is a product aimed at users who carry and transfer large files in external work environments. The SANDISK Extreme Fit USB-C flash drive emphasizes connectivity with USB-C-based devices such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones by featuring a compact form factor.

The SANDISK Optimus GX PRO 8100 NVMe SSD is an embedded SSD designed for high-performance PCs and content creation environments. Based on official product specifications, it offers sequential read speeds of up to 14,900MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 14,000MB/s based on the PCIe 5.0 interface, and supports capacities up to 8TB.

In the storage market, the scale of data that needs to be processed is increasing due to AI tasks, high-resolution video editing, gaming, and mobile content creation. Consequently, not only product performance but also completeness in actual usage—such as heat dissipation, portability, connectivity methods, and ease of installation—is becoming increasingly important.

Janet Algeier, General Manager of SanDisk's Retail Business Unit, explained that product design is not merely an external element, but a criterion that determines the user experience. Susan Park, Vice President of SanDisk's Consumer Products Division, also stated that they design product structures and functions by considering users' work styles and device environments.

This award demonstrates that competition in the consumer storage market is expanding from a focus on technical specifications to product designs that reflect usage environments. SanDisk appears poised to target both the creator and general consumer markets simultaneously through its portable storage devices and high-performance SSD product lines.
