Corning Korea has embarked on community environmental improvement activities by planting trees in the ecological restoration area around Nanjido, Seoul, to mark its 30th anniversary and the 175th anniversary of its parent company, Corning.

Corning Korea announced that on May 29, approximately 60 employees participated in planting 175 oak trees at Noeul Park in Mapo-gu, Seoul, and delivered a donation for ecosystem restoration to the Noeul Park Citizens' Association. The participants took part in the tree planting work after receiving training on planting.

Noeul Park, where the event was held, is an ecological park created by restoring Nanjido, a former metropolitan landfill. Currently, ecological restoration and forest creation activities are underway in the World Cup Park area, including Noeul Park and Haneul Park, led by civic groups and volunteers.

The oak trees planted this time are known to be a species with relatively high adaptability even in harsh environments. Corning Korea planted 175 trees in accordance with Corning's history to commemorate its founding.

Corning is a materials science company founded in New York, USA in 1851, and produces specialty glass, optical communication materials, and glass substrates for displays. It has expanded its business in Korea along with the growth of the display industry, and Corning Korea celebrated its 30th anniversary this year.

Corning Korea conducted this activity as part of Corning's global social contribution program, 'Acts of Kindness.' To mark its 175th anniversary, Corning is promoting volunteer and donation activities at its business sites around the world. Corning Korea has also been participating in environmental restoration activities, such as establishing the 'Corning Korea Forest of Sharing' at Haneul Park, the former Nanjido site, in 2015.
