May 20, 2015 – Linear Technology Korea (CEO Hong Sa-kwak) announced the launch of the LT8495, a current mode, fixed frequency SEPIC/boost DC/DC converter with an integrated 2A, 70V switch. The ultra-low standby current of just 9μA is ideal for always-on automotive systems, and the device's integrated POR (power-on reset) and watchdog timer provide enhanced system reliability required in automotive and industrial applications. The LT8495 operates over an input voltage range of 2.5V to 32V, and once operating, it functions from 1V to 60V input, making it ideal for applications with diverse input sources ranging from single-cell lithium-ion to automotive inputs. The LT8495 can be configured as a boost, SEPIC, or flyback converter. The switching frequency can be programmed between 250kHz and 1.5MHz through a single resistor, minimizing external component size. The integration of a TSSOP-20E package with enhanced thermal performance and compact external components ensures a very compact footprint while reducing solution cost.

The LT8495's internal high-efficiency 2A switch delivers efficiency up to 83% while operating in SEPIC configuration. Through a proprietary design using dual power pins (VIN and BIAS), the device can operate from the most efficient power source and optimizes efficiency across a wide range of conditions. The LT8495 operates from input power supplies up to 60V for SEPIC topology and can operate up to 32V through ride-through protection in boost and flyback topologies. The reset and watchdog timeout periods can be independently adjusted through external capacitors. Additional features include FMEA tolerant package, programmable soft start, and thermal shutdown protection.

The LT8495 is available in a TSSOP-20 package with enhanced thermal performance, starting at $2.95 per unit at quantities of 1,000.
