Users can optimize the transient response of the LTM4630-1, while by adjusting the loop response of the µModule regulator, output capacitance can be reduced with external resistors and capacitors. Using minimal output ceramic capacitors (5 pieces of 220µF), the LTM4630-1's ±3% output voltage regulation window delivers 36A to a 1.2V load while measuring 25% load step transient response at 12VIN. At 20A and 36A load currents with 12VIN, 1.2VOUT, efficiency is 87.5% and 86% respectively. The corresponding power loss values are 3.2W and 6.5W respectively. The LTM4630-1 delivers the full 36A current at a maximum ambient temperature of 60°C from 12VIN ~ 1VOUT with no air flow. Load current decreases by approximately 6A for every 10°C rise in ambient temperature above 60°C.
