Amid the rapid changes in the power grid operating environment driven by the proliferation of AI data centers and the increasing adoption of renewable energy, a specialized seminar will be held to discuss next-generation distribution network technologies and commercialization strategies.


The Industrial Education Research Institute announced that it will hold the 'Seminar on Next-Generation Distribution Network Technology Trends and Response Strategies Following the Expansion of AI and Renewable Energy' on August 13 in a hybrid online and offline format.

With the recent increase in power demand from AI data centers and high-tech industries, ensuring a stable power supply and grid operation flexibility is emerging as a critical challenge. In addition, the need to upgrade the existing power grid structure is growing due to the intermittency issues arising from the expansion of renewable energy and the increase in distributed power sources.

This seminar will cover various next-generation distribution network technologies aimed at securing power capacity and grid stability.

The main presentations included: strategies for medium-voltage direct current (MVDC) technology and localization of distribution network equipment to improve power transmission efficiency; the current status of domestic DSOs and distribution network regional flexibility services; strategies for developing and utilizing next-generation DC cable technology based on eco-friendly insulation materials; directions for developing distribution pole technology to stabilize the power grid; strategies for introducing and operating AC/DC microgrids to solve distribution system saturation issues; and demonstration cases and commercialization strategies for ESS-based virtual power plants (VPPs).

The event will be held from 10:00 AM to 4:50 PM.

The Industrial Education Research Institute expects this seminar to be an opportunity to examine technological directions and business opportunities to respond to changes in the power grid resulting from the expansion of AI and renewable energy.
