Mobilint officially launches AI USB 'MLD-R1'

It features maximum 10TOPS (INT8) AI performance and approximately 3W low-power design, equipped with 4GB or 8GB LPDDR4X memory, and is designed to support operation of small-scale LLMs in the 1~3B range based on INT4~8 quantization standards.
It can be used by connecting to notebooks, industrial PCs, and embedded systems that support USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C, and supports both Windows and Linux environments as well as x86 and ARM hosts.
Supported frameworks include △PyTorch △ONNX △Hugging Face △TensorFlow △TensorFlow Lite △Keras.
Mobilint expects MLD-R1 to be applicable in sectors including △smart factories △machine vision △industrial automation △robotics △smart cities △security △medical devices △digital signage.
The company notes that AI functionality can be added to existing systems with only a USB connection, thereby reducing construction costs and development time.
Plans are underway to expand the product portfolio to include AI cards and AI boxes in the future.
Kim Sung-mo, Head of Business Development at Mobilint, stated, "MLD-R1 is a product that confirms the market's high expectations for commercialization, as pre-orders and inquiries for adoption have continued from both domestic AI national projects and domestic and international customers since shortly after its COMPUTEX unveiling," and added, "We will continue to build an ecosystem where anyone can easily and efficiently utilize on-device AI."

The two companies plan to jointly develop edge AI-based video analytics solutions and identify business opportunities together in the industrial safety and security fields. Mobilint will provide the NPU-based hardware platform, while SphereAX will be responsible for video analysis algorithms, with the plan to establish a real-time monitoring system applicable to diverse sites such as manufacturing, construction, and public facilities.
