Targeting high-reliability resistor market for AI servers, automobiles, and industrial equipment

Rohm announced on the 20th the development of the 'SDR01 series,' a surge protection chip resistor in 1005 size that supports an industry-leading rated power of 0.33W.
The new product is characterized by optimized resistive element and electrode structure to simultaneously achieve high reliability and power handling capability. The company explained that this enables replacement of existing higher-specification components or reduction in the number of resistors, contributing to improved space utilization and design efficiency.
The SDR01 series supports a rated power of 0.33W at a rated terminal temperature (Tk) of 125℃.
Rohm stated that the product can be stably used even under high-temperature conditions such as high-density mounting environments or near heat-generating components, reducing thermal design burden.
Additionally, the temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) is ±100ppm/℃ (based on 10Ω to 2.2MΩ), suppressing resistance value variation due to temperature changes and supporting stable circuit operation.
The company explained that cases requiring simultaneous miniaturization and high-power performance are increasing in automotive electronics, industrial equipment, AI servers, and similar applications.
The SDR01 series is designed to handle surge and electrostatic discharge (ESD) environments that can occur in power circuits and interface circuits, and can be applied across automotive equipment, industrial equipment, and consumer appliance sectors.
Production has already begun, and the sample price is 6 yen per unit. Products can also be purchased through online component distribution channels.
Rohm plans to expand its high-reliability chip resistor product line to address miniaturization, high-output, and reliability improvement of electronic devices.
