Nordic launches 'nRF54LC10A' for ultra-compact IoT...expands multi-protocol SoC lineup

Supports Bluetooth LE, Thread, Zigbee, and Matter...for smart home sensors and asset trackers
Nordic Semiconductor is introducing a multi-protocol system-on-chip (SoC) for compact IoT devices, strengthening its strategic push into the low-power wireless connectivity market.
Nordic Semiconductor announced on the 17th the launch of a new SoC 'nRF54LC10A' that supports Bluetooth LE (Bluetooth Low Energy), Thread, Zigbee, Matter, and other protocols.
The new product is the smallest multi-protocol SoC in the nRF54L series, integrating MCU and wireless connectivity functions in a 1.9×2.3mm chip-scale package.
Targeting smart home and asset tracking markets
The nRF54LC10A supports Bluetooth LE and Bluetooth Channel Sounding, Thread, Zigbee, and Matter, designed to be applicable across diverse IoT environments.
The chip is equipped with 1MB non-volatile memory (NVM) and 192KB RAM, and implements an Arm Cortex-M33 based CPU and RISC-V coprocessor.
Security features have also been enhanced. It supports Arm TrustZone-based security features and physical attack defense capabilities, as well as nRF Cloud-based firmware over-the-air (FOTA) updates and remote monitoring functionality.
Nordic explains that the product is well-suited for asset trackers and location trackers, smart home sensors, Thread-based accessories, and other compact connected devices.
Low-power design applied
The nRF54LC10A was developed based on a 22-nanometer (nm) process and focuses on low-power operation.
Current consumption during reception is 4.0mA, and power consumption at 0dBm transmission power is approximately 5.8mA. In sleep mode, it consumes only 0.5~1.6μA of power.
Additionally, it supports receiver sensitivity of -97dBm in Bluetooth LE 1M mode and -101dBm in IEEE 802.15.4 environments.
Nordic has begun sample supply of the nRF54LC10A and plans to commence mass production from the second quarter of 2027. Development kits are scheduled to be supplied in the first quarter of 2027.
