Seoul, Korea [July 8, 2015]— Artesyn Embedded Technologies announced today the maximum density 1/16 brick isolated DC-DC converter for distributed power applications such as communications, computing and networking equipment. The new 100–120 watt AVD100 series 1/16 brick DC-DC converter is optimized for space-constrained high-density applications, delivering excellent thermal performance and efficiency up to 92.5%.

Andy Brown, Technical Marketing Director for DC-DC products at Artesyn Embedded Technologies, stated, "As board space continues to become increasingly critical, designers are searching for innovative ways to save space and add value to end products. Conventional 100–120 watt DC-DC converters required a 1/8 brick footprint, but the new AVD100 series can deliver the same power to customers at half the size."

The Artesyn AVD100 series devices operate over a wide 36 Vdc to 75 Vdc input range and provide regulated 5 or 12 V output voltages. Additionally, the devices offer the advantage of operating across a wide temperature range from –40 degrees to 85 degrees.

The AVD100 series features output overcurrent, short circuit, overvoltage, and over-temperature protection, and also includes an enable pin on the primary side of the converter. The device adopts an open frame design with substrate options optimized for conduction cooling or forced air flow applications, and standard product options include surface mount or plated through hole with different pin lengths and positive/negative selectable options.
