SiTime Launches Innovative VCXO for Communications, Networking, and Embedded Applications
Encore-based SiT380X family provides 10x improved full range and linearity compared to conventional quartz VCXOs
Sunnyvale, California – Analog semiconductor company SiTime Corporation today announced the SiT380X family of MEMS-based Voltage Controlled Oscillators (VCXOs) for communications, networking, and embedded applications. Comprising the SiT3808 and SiT3809 VCXOs, the SiT380X family offers sub-picosecond jitter characteristics as well as full range and linearity improved tenfold compared to conventional quartz VCXOs. Because these devices are also programmable with various capabilities such as frequency, voltage, stability, full range, and drive strength, SiTime can supply order samples within 48 hours and production volumes within three weeks. Like other SiTime oscillator products, the SiT380X family provides pin compatibility for existing quartz-based solutions.

Piyush Sevalia, Vice President of Marketing at SiTime, stated, “SiTime leverages powerful silicon technology to support the electronics industry’s rapid transition from passive timing components to active circuits utilizing MEMS.” He added, “The silicon-based SiT3808 and SiT3809 VCXOs offer unique features that are 10 times better than quartz VCXOs, such as a full range of ±1600 PPM, 1% linearity, and frequencies from 1 MHz to 220 MH.” “These capabilities, combined with unprecedented flexibility, shortest lead times, and highest reliability, are accelerating SiTime’s transition to innovative technology,” he said.
The SiT380X product family consists of two products; the SiT3808 operates from 1 MHz to 80 MHz, and the SiT3809 operates from 80 MHz to 220 MHz. Both devices provide the following features:
• All frequencies within the operating range provide the best 6-digit accuracy
• Widest pool range of up to ±1600 PPM. ±200 PPM
