High temperature H and high reliability MP version


October 13, 2011 -- Linear Technology Korea (General Manager Hong Sa-kwak, www.linear.com ) announced the release of high temperature (H-grade) and high reliability (MP-grade) versions of the LT3690. This synchronous step-down switching regulator, capable of a 36V input, provides a continuous output current of up to 4A with an efficiency of up to 93%. The LT3690 operates within an input voltage range of 3.9V to 36V and offers transient voltage protection up to 60V, making it ideal for load dumps and cold crank conditions in automotive applications.

The LT3690's Burst Mode® operation capability is advantageous for applications requiring always-on operation and optimal battery life, such as automotive and telecom systems, as it consumes only 70µA of standby current. User-programmable switching frequencies ranging from 170kHz to 1.5MHz allow designers to optimize efficiency while avoiding demanding, noise-sensitive frequency bands. Furthermore, the use of a 4mm x 6mm QFN-26 package and high switching frequencies enables the use of ultra-small external inductors and capacitors, resulting in a compact and thermally efficient footprint.

The H-grade version operates within a junction temperature range of -40°C to 150°C, and is tested and guaranteed for performance within this temperature range. The MP-grade version also operates within a similar junction temperature range of -55°C to 150°C, and is tested and guaranteed for performance within this temperature range. The electrical specifications of the H-grade and MP-grade versions are identical to those of the E and I grades. These products are ideal for applications frequently exposed to high ambient temperatures, such as automotive, industrial, and military applications.
