Adding convenient remote access and management capabilities to future car keys with long-distance two-way communication.

NXP Semiconductors announced the Mantra RF portfolio, a family of high-performance transceivers.

Unveiled in Seoul on September 16, 2015, the product family provides a long-range, two-way RF link that enables robust two-way communication between the key and the car at distances of more than 500 meters.

Mantra-equipped vehicle keys allow remote access to check fuel and battery status and read maintenance data. Owners can also check if doors and windows are locked, remotely start and monitor the engine, and preset the car's interior temperature.

Notably, the current automotive market offers a triple receiver capable of receiving up to three channels simultaneously. This eliminates signal loss and maximizes system performance while consuming minimal power.

Furthermore, this new concept allows integrating different receiver units, such as tire pressure monitoring, vehicle diagnostics, and vehicle management, into the vehicle access module, thereby reducing the overall system cost. The Mantra product line also provides robust security and identity verification features to prevent unauthorized access.
