Korea Electronics & Information Communications Industry Association awards the Gold Tower Order of Industrial Merit to Samsung Electronics President Kim Jong-ho
The Dongtap Order of Industrial Merit was awarded to 40 people, including Winis Co., Ltd. CEO Yoon Hee-jong.

The Korea Electronics and Information Communications Industry Association (Chairman Kwon Oh-hyun) held the '10th Electronics IT Day' awards ceremony at KINTEX in Ilsan, attended by approximately 250 people including Vice Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Lee Kwan-sup and officials from the electronics and IT industry, and presented awards to 40 individuals recognized for their contributions to the development of the electronics and IT industry.

'Electronics IT Day' was established in 2005 to commemorate the milestone of exceeding $100 billion in electronics exports, and every year, awards are presented to those who have contributed to the development of the electronics and IT industry, along with a grand commemorative ceremony, coinciding with the opening day of the Korea Electronics Show, the largest electronics and IT exhibition in Korea, which is held every October.

Samsung Electronics President Kim Jong-ho was awarded the prestigious Gold Tower Order of Industrial Merit in recognition of his contributions to the development of Korea's electronics and IT industries and the enhancement of the nation's prestige. He achieved this by growing smartphones and TVs into world-leading businesses through the development of cutting-edge manufacturing processes in the parts and materials sector and continuous quality innovation. He was also recognized for developing new technologies to foster core root industries and for supporting small and medium-sized enterprises.

Winix CEO Yoon Hee-jong was awarded the Dongtap Order of Industrial Service Merit for his contribution to the development of the electronics industry through the promotion of exports and import substitution by entering the global market with heat exchange air conditioning technology and the manufacturing of home appliances. As of 2015, Winix has expanded the dehumidifier market to a scale of over 1 million units per year.

Dongbu Daewoo Electronics Vice President Lee Jang-hee received the Industrial Medal in recognition of his contributions to the development of the domestic home appliance industry as an engineer in the electronics and IT field, by proactively responding to market changes through the establishment of product lineups. Vice President Lee contributed to the practice of green management and active participation in national environmental policies, including the establishment of "EcoNET."

In addition, five individuals received the Presidential Commendation: CEO Choi In-kyu of Yuju TNC, Managing Director Kim Shin-tae of Namseong Co., Ltd., Department Head Jeong Gil-ho of LG Electronics, CEO Park Jeong-sil of Hybe System, and CEO Cho Jun-hee of InnoSimulation. CEO Choi was recognized for his contributions to securing the nation's technological and price competitiveness by developing manufacturing base technologies for telephones, home appliances, and Flat Panel Displays, thereby improving product quality and yield, and for contributing to the revitalization of the job market by continuously creating jobs that account for 20% of the total workforce.

Namseong Co., Ltd. Applyes World's First Ultra-Motion Display Function to 2Car Audio Head Unit

Kim Shin-tae, Managing Director of Namseong Co., Ltd., received the award for significantly contributing to the technological advancement of the domestic electronics industry as well as increasing exports through research for new product development and quality improvement in the field of mobile digital audio and video. This company applied the world's first ultra-motion display function to the 2Car Audio Head Unit.

Five people, including Heesung Electronics Executive Vice President Choi Jong-sik, Senior Vice President Kim Nak-ju (L&B Technology), CEO Hyung Jae-sung (CTK), Executive Vice President Lee Jae-il (POSCO ICT), and CEO Ryu Young-ryeol (AlphaScan Display), received the Prime Minister's Commendation.

Executive Vice President Choi Jong-sik of Heesung Electronics contributed to the company's growth into a top-tier electronic components enterprise by starting with small LCD components and continuing with large-scale development, localization of core components, enhancement of global research capabilities, and the development of advanced technologies. This recognition is for his dedication to discovering new businesses, including overseeing the development of TV and monitor BLUs and enhancing R&D capabilities at production bases.

Executive Director Lee Jae-il (POSCO ICT) developed various ICT solutions, such as EMS that integrate IT and control technology, and contributed significantly to improving national industrial competitiveness through energy efficiency in industrial sites, smart grids, and power demand management.

27 people, including Department Head Jeon Jong-ho (Simtek) and CEO Lee Jong-mook (Sol), each received a commendation from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy.

General Manager Jeon Jong-ho is recognized for his contribution to the development of Korea's electronics and IT industry by increasing the production volume of semiconductor package PCBs tenfold over the past 10 years and mass-producing circuit boards by actively introducing the latest technology.

CEO Lee Jong-mook contributed to enhancing national R&D competitiveness by developing new technologies in the convergence fields of semiconductor sensors, bio, and information and communication, and contributed to national development through international standardization activities by actively participating in the establishment of standard foundations for semiconductors, medical devices, and smart health.

Samsung Electronics President Kim Jong-ho stated in his acceptance speech, “We will continuously develop new technologies for the advancement of Korea’s electronics and IT industries, and support small and medium-sized enterprises by disseminating Samsung Electronics’ accumulated manufacturing technology and know-how to contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of domestic companies.”

After the awards ceremony, Vice Minister Lee Kwan-seop and other key attendees, guided by Kwon Oh-hyun, Chairman of the Korea Electronics and Information & Communications Industry Association, attended the opening ceremony of the Korea Electronics Show, toured the exhibition hall, and encouraged the representatives of the exhibiting companies.
