SiTime Provides Industry's First Complete Oscillator Solution for Tablet PCs and E-Book Readers
The smallest, thinnest, and most shock and vibration-resistant silicon MEMS timing solution
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – April 11, 2011 – SiTime Corp., a leader in MEMS-based silicon timing solutions, announced today the launch of a complete portfolio of MEMS oscillators for tablet PCs and e-book readers. Based on SiTime’s SiT8003 low-power MEMS oscillator platform, these solutions provide clocking for all major function blocks in tablet PCs and e-book readers. In addition to being 30% thinner and offering 10 times better shock and dust resistance compared to quartz, the SiT8003 improves the aesthetics and lifespan of tablet PCs and e-book readers.

Piyush Sevalia, Vice President of Marketing at SiTime, said, “Tablet PCs and E-book readers are one of the fastest-growing segments in the electronics industry, and shipments are expected to exceed 200 million units in 2014.” "SiTime's low-power, programmable MEMS oscillators are already providing the timing standard for many tablet PCs and e-book readers," they said, adding, "SiTime's solutions offer optimal size and robustness, a new level of flexibility, industry-leading 3-5 week lead times, and the lowest cost of ownership, leading high-volume applications that attract significant consumer interest, such as tablet PCs, to rapidly adopt SiTime's silicon MEMS timing solutions instead of existing quartz products."
SiTime's SiT8003 low-power programmable MEMS oscillator can be configured to drive a wide variety of devices within tablet PCs and e-book readers. Key configurations are as follows:
* SiT8003AC-12-18S-26.00000 for Application Processors and USB2.0 Transceivers
SiT8003AC-12-33S-14.31800 for Platform Controller Hub (PCH) Chip
* SiT8003AC-12-33S-22.57920 for HDMI SOC
* SiT8003AC-12-33S-24.57600 for Audio CODEC
* SiT8003AC-12-33S-27.00000 for camera module
The SiT8003 provides the best combination of low power, small size, and high performance for tablet PC and e-book reader designs. This device consumes 3.5mA in operating mode and less than 5μA in standby mode, and ±2 at an operating temperature of -20℃ to 70℃.
