Intersil Launches Industry-Leading High-Temperature Digital Illumination Sensor for Automotive Lighting Applications

April 11, 2011 – Intersil, a global leader in the design and production of high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, announced today the launch of the industry's highest-performance automotive light sensor capable of operating at 105°C. The newly released ISL76683 meets the AEC-Q100 Grade 2 quality standard of the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC) and guarantees stability even under high thermal stress. Furthermore, this new product resolves the issues associated with existing sensor products by maintaining package transparency even under the high thermal stress of the automotive interior environment.
The unique package of the new ISL76683 provides an optimal solution for measuring light intensity in various automotive applications, such as flat panel displays (FPDs), backlights, interior lighting control, and windshield temperature sensing applications. In particular, it features an integrated 16-bit A/D converter that adjusts the signal according to user-set sensitivity and enables customized performance for specific lighting conditions.

The ISL76683, offering enhanced design flexibility, provides infrared and ultraviolet blocking capabilities along with a lambda response ideal for the human eye. In addition, it features 50Hz and 60Hz flicker elimination capabilities.
