Microchip Expands MOSFET Driver Product Family
It supports a peak output current range of 2A to 4.5A and an enable input pin for shutdown.
Low-side devices supplied in widely used packages
Microchip Technology (Country Manager for Korea: Han Byung-don), a global specialist in microcontroller, analog, and flash IP solutions, announced the expansion of its MOSFET driver product family. Building on the success of the low-side MCP14E3/4/5 4.5A MOSFET drivers, Microchip introduced the new low-side drivers: the MCP14E6/7/8 2A and MCP14E9/10/11 3A. This newly added low-cost device family is designed to operate with peak output currents ranging from 2A to 4.5A over a wide operating voltage range of 4.5V to 18V. It features an enable input pin that saves power through a shutdown function and is supplied in 8-pin SOIC and 8-pin 6mm x 5mm DFN packages. These products are suitable for consumer electronics applications that utilize power supplies, such as servers, PCs, and laptops.

Today's engineers must implement lower power, more features, and smaller packages at a lower cost, and Microchip's new family of MOSFET drivers neatly addresses these requirements. The new MCP14E6/7/8 dual devices are specified with a peak output current of 2A, while the MCP14E9/10/11 dual devices are specified with 3A. Since these drivers have a wide operating voltage range of 4.5V to 18V, the input voltage is also wide. In addition, costs can be reduced because the small package size takes up less board space.
