The portfolio supports all of Freescale's Thread network protocols.




Freescale announced the launch of a Thread pre-certification software stack optimized for Freescale products, coinciding with the introduction of the Thread Group's product certification program.

This stack is currently under review by the Thread certification program and is scheduled to receive its first official Thread certification in late November 2015.

With this software stack being released early alongside Freescale’s excellent portfolio of Thread-compatible microcontrollers, application processors, sensors, integrated connectivity solutions, and support resources, more than half of all products and components that integrate Thread and are currently submitted for Thread product certification will be based on Freescale semiconductors.

Freescale, the founder and sponsor of the Thread group, plays a key role in the development, testing, and advancement of the Thread mesh networking protocol.

Freescale developed Thread border router hardware solutions based on Freescale's i.MX 6UltraLite ARM® Cortex®-A7 based processors and Kinetis KW2x ARM Cortex-M4 based wireless MCUs, in collaboration with global peripheral company Procter & Gamble.We are collaborating on Thread-based development activities with a wide range of customers and partners, including Jabil , an industry-leading engineering manufacturing service provider.


In addition to conducting Thread-related activities with industry leaders, Freescale is also working closely with a wide range of promising IoT startups, including Elarm and Ubiant, which have been selected as Thread Group Innovation Enablers for products using Freescale technology. The Thread Group established the Innovation Enablers program to highlight and support pre-Series A startups striving to develop innovative new products incorporating Thread mesh network technology.
