TI Launches Industry's First Class H VDSL Line Driver for High-Speed Networking Equipment
Provides lowest power consumption characteristics for the entire VDSL profile with a single device
TI Korea (CEO Jaejin Kim, www.ti.com/ww/kr ) March 23, 2011 – TI announced the mass production of the industry's first Class H VDSL line driver. Regarding power, a critical requirement in high-density VDSL applications used in high-speed broadband networks, the gated dual-port THS6226 consumes 47% less power than competing Class AB products. Furthermore, by providing digitally adjustable quiescent current characteristics, the THS6226 line driver enables high linearity and low distortion while optimizing power reduction. Additionally, the THS6226 simplifies product sourcing and design by supporting the entire VDSL profile with a single line driver. Key Features and Advantages
• The single Class H solution provides a minimum of 350mW for the 17a profile and the lowest power consumption characteristics for all VDSL profiles.
• Provides designers the flexibility to fine-tune power control functions with standby current adjustable in 1mA increments from 7.6mA to 23.5mA.
• Supports maintaining signal accuracy by providing low MTPR (multi-tone power ratio) distortion characteristics of 70dB with 19.8dBm characteristics for VDSL2 Profile 8b.
• Supports reducing system board space and cost by integrating input bias circuitry and all gain and feedback registers.
• +12 combined with a flexible current driveThe wide output swing characteristics of the V power supply support up to 20 dB of output power to the load.
