Infineon announced that it is adding the IRS2005(S, M) to its 200V driver IC family for use in high-voltage high-speed IGBTs and power MOSFETs.

This new driver IC provides comprehensive protection for space-constrained motor drive applications such as electric gardening equipment, golf carts, power tools, and electric scooters.

The IRS200x series consists of high-side, low-side, and half-bridge drivers, and utilizes Infineon's proven HVJI (high-voltage junction isolation) technology to allow for negative transient voltage while miniaturizing the package.


These 200V products are suitable for low voltage (24V, 36V, 48V) and medium voltage (60V, 80V, 100V) applications. In addition, these products not only achieve high system-level efficiency and power density but also improve system robustness.

The IRS200x series consists of six products with a rated sink current of 600mA and a source current of 290mA. These 200V devices are compatible with 3.3V, 5V, and 15V logic devices. All driver ICs in this series include a VCC undervoltage lockout (UVLO) function, and the IRS2005 further enhances system reliability by including a VBS UVLO function in addition to this.

These 200V driver ICs are designed to use bootstrap power, eliminating the need for the large and expensive auxiliary power supplies typically required in discrete optocoupler or transformer-based designs. Additionally, the IRS2003 and IRS2004 include dead-time and shoot-through protection. These 200V products have low quiescent current. The IRS2004 provides a shutdown input pin.
