TI Simplifies Design with Industry's First 2-Channel Simultaneous-Sampling ADC Providing Two Independently Controlled Internal References
16-bit, 14-bit, and 12-bit precision data converters that double throughput per channel
– TI has launched the industry's first 2-channel simultaneous-sampling SAR ADC providing two independent internal control references to simplify system-level design. The 16-bit ADS8363, 14-bit ADS7263, and 12-bit ADS7223 are pin-to-pin compatible and support processing speeds of up to 1 MSPS per channel—twice that of similar ADC products—for industrial and energy applications such as motor control, power quality management, protection relays, power automation, solar inverters, and wind power generation. Key Features and Advantages
• Integrates two 2.5V independent control references to simplify system-level design and supports independent ADC gain correction and programmable gain amplifier implementation. When various gain levels are required for each ADC, this feature reduces the need for external signal adjustment.
• 1 MSPS throughput increases efficiency for higher performance and, when used for motor control, increases the number of measurements per revolution to provide more precise motor position accuracy.
• FIFO (First In, First Out) reduces processor access by more than 75% compared to alternative solutions, thereby increasing performance by lowering system power consumption or providing MIPS for other tasks.
• Reduces component count by supporting up to 8 virtual differential inputs grouped into two pairs or 4 full-differential input channels, doubling the number of supported inputs compared to the most similar 16-bit and 14-bit competitors.
• The ADS8363 is a best-in-class temperature-rated device designed for harsh industrial environments up to 125°C.
Free tools and support
TI provides various free tools and support to shorten development using ADS8363, ADS7263, ADS7223, etc., including IBIS models to verify various signal integrity requirements and calculators for anti-aliasing and circuit topography.
This new ADC can be rapidly evaluated using an evaluation module (ADS8363EVM) that includes the OPA365 rail-to-rail operational amplifier. The ADS8363EVM is available for $49 per unit and is currently available.

ADS8363, ADS7263, and ADS7223 are currently available in 5mm x 5mm QFN packages. Pricing is based on a quantity of 1,000 units.
