SlimPort Port Controller and ANX7428 High-Speed Switch Targeted

Analogix Semiconductor (www.analogix.com) announced that its ANX7428 product has obtained USB-IF (USB Implementers Forum) certification for USB Power Delivery (USB PD) and received product test ID 10970042.

The ANX74XX Mobile HD product family supports USB-C embedded DisplayPort (previously known as DisplayPort Alt Mode), USB data, and USB Power Delivery.

The ANX74XX is a single-chip, cost-effective integrated solution for mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets, and notebooks. The product family includes USB-C Port Controllers with up to 100W of USB Power Delivery, USB-C Port Controllers with USB 2.0, SuperSpeed USB data transmission, and high-speed multiplexers for DisplayPort Alt Mode. The product family features flexible configuration supporting up to four USB Type-C ports for notebooks and 2-in-1 convertibles.

Jeff Ravencraft, USB-IF President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), stated, "USB Power Delivery enables faster charging and flexible bidirectional power delivery of up to 100W." This interoperability is important for positive user experience and activation of the USB-C ecosystem."

When developing USB Type-C Alt Mode devices, the USB Power Delivery specification must be strictly followed. The USB Power Delivery specification defines input and output to USB Type-C Alt Mode. One example of USB Type-C Alt Mode is the USB Type-C standard DisplayPort Alt Mode developed by VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association).

Bill Lempesis, VESA Executive Director, stated, "USB-C embedded DisplayPort provides high resolution with low power consumption, making it ideally optimized for recently introduced mobile computing devices such as Microsoft Lumia 950 and 950 XL." The SlimPort certification program for SlimPort-based products provides additional interoperability testing for the entire system, including DisplayPort audio/video output functionality as well as conversion to HDMI and VGA displays.
