Intersil Launches Industry's First Highly Compressed Digital Power Module
Equipped with a PMBus interface that simplifies smart power management design
Small 12A Digital DC/DC Power Module ZL9101M
Intersil, a global leader in the design and production of high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors, announced today that it is strengthening its leadership in the next-generation power module sector with the launch of the ZL9101M, a compressed, highly integrated digital DC/DC power module. The newly released ZL9101M is designed for Point of Load (POL) power management in applications such as servers, communications, networks, and storage devices.
In accordance with Intersil’s “Power Made Simple” philosophy, this new digital power module provides customers with buildable blocks that can easily meet diverse system power requirements. The ZL9101M is a fast and simple alternative for power solutions up to 12A, significantly reducing the number of discrete components and complex external ICs required to implement a complete POL power management solution. It also offers the most thermally efficient package and significantly improves system stability.
System designers can utilize the ZL9101M's default settings to use solutions more simply and easily. Additionally, the ZL9101M simplifies smart power management design through the module's PMBus interface for added design flexibility. Powered by an in-house Zilker Labs digital controller, PMBus offers exceptional design flexibility and enables easy real-time monitoring of voltage, current, and temperature. In addition, the ZL9101M includes an adaptive performance optimization algorithm that improves power conversion performance and efficiency across the entire load range.
The ZL9101M significantly reduces customers' Bill of Materials (BOM) by integrating MOSFETs, power inductors, and discrete components with Intersil's Zilker Labs digital DC/DC controller. Additionally, for applications requiring an output current of 12A or higher, multiple ZL9101Ms can be connected in parallel using Digital-DC™ current sharing technology. Product designers can quickly configure complete digital power solutions through the PowerNavigator™ GUI interface. The PowerNavigator interface allows for the modification of module parameters with a single mouse click, eliminating the need for soldering with a soldering iron.
Packaging
Available in a 15mm x 15mm QFN package, the ZL9101M features a large thermal pad on the bottom.
