Lattice Semiconductor announced today that its flexible charging controller family LIF-UC™ supports Qualcomm®'s Quick Charge™ standard.

Quick Charge 2.0 and 3.0 technologies are products of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., an affiliate of Qualcomm Incorporated. As the release of high-performance products increases, fast charging capabilities are becoming increasingly important. To support this, Qualcomm Technologies' Power Management IC (PMIC) products are optimizing the charging architecture of mobile devices by utilizing Quick Charge technology.

Lattice supplies semiconductor products for power adapters that ensure seamless communication with PMICs used in mobile devices. The LIF-UC product family provides flexible programming capabilities, enabling customers to differentiate their products and remain competitive in the future. By updating the firmware for Lattice solutions, engineers can rapidly transition between multiple generations of charging specifications, including various standards such as Quick Charge, Battery Charging, Power Delivery, and USB Type-C.

Lattice's programmable charging controller is fully compatible with the USB Power Delivery v2.0 standard and, when combined with Qualcomm Technologies' Quick Charge technology, provides a flexible solution that can reduce the time required to recharge batteries for mobile devices. Currently, numerous manufacturers worldwide are introducing a variety of smartphones, tablets, and wall adapters that support Quick Charge 2.0. Quick Charge 3.0 was developed to support charging speeds four times faster than the previous technology.
