Developing 'Brillo', a platform for developers and manufacturers to implement IoT.


ASUS announced at CES 2016 that it has partnered with Google to develop innovative next-generation computing solutions, including consumer IoT (Internet of Things) products for the smart home.

Under this partnership, ASUS and Google will collaborate on the development of smart home products based on Google's IoT platform, Brillo. Brillo allows developers and manufacturers to connect all devices based on the Android operating system, and the two companies say it will benefit from maximizing the power efficiency of IoT devices.

Last year, Google unveiled its Brillo platform, designed to "connect any device simply and securely." ASUS also announced plans to release Brillo-based smart home devices by the end of this year.

In particular, ASUS introduced the Chromebook C202, an education-specific laptop optimized for classroom use, at CES 2016. ASUS says the Chromebook C202, which was developed with a focus on durability so that students can easily use it in the classroom, can run for 10 hours on a single charge and allows for easier connection of peripherals such as a keyboard and mouse.
