Sennheiser announced that its high-end headphone and dedicated amplifier combination, the HE 1060 & HEV 1060, won the 'Innovation Honoree' in the 'Headphones' and 'High Performance Home Audio-Video' categories at the 'CES 2016 Innovation Awards'.

The 'Innovation Award' presented at CES is a prestigious award that selects products showcasing the most outstanding design and engineering technology in a total of 27 categories of the consumer electronics industry, based on evaluations by a judging panel composed of industrial designers, engineers, and journalists.

The price of Sennheiser's HE 1060 & HEV 1060 headphones is expected to be set at around 50,000 euros.

Sennheiser stated that the HE 1060 & HEV 1060, officially announced in November 2015, reproduce the ultimate sound unheard of in other headphone systems through exceptional spatial awareness, a frequency range beyond the limits of human perception, and minimized harmonic distortion. The HE 1060 / HEV 1060 utilizes an innovative amplifier concept that combines the advantages of both vacuum tube amplifiers and transistor amplifiers.

Sennheiser Portfolio Manager Axel Grell stated, “Tube amplifiers have excellent impulse processing but have the disadvantage of being sensitive to structural noise,” adding, “For this reason, the amplifier housing used in the product is crafted from Carrera marble and attached to the amplifier.”

Separating the tubes, combined with the vibration characteristics of the marble, effectively minimizes structural noise. Following the tube amplifier stage is a patented ultra-high impulse amplifier stage integrated into the headphone cup. As a result, efficiency increased by 200% compared to other products.
