NTT Communications named a 'Leader' in the 2016 Gartner report
Published2016.01.21 17:17NTT Communications Corporation (www.ntt.com), a data, cloud, and international telecommunications specialist under the NTT Group, announced today that it was named a leader for the third consecutive year in the "Global Network Services Magic Quadrant" report*1 published by market research firm Gartner Inc. in January 2016. NTT Communications received high marks for its execution capabilities and vision fulfillment.
Gartner’s Magic Quadrant report evaluates service providers’ ability to execute and fulfill their vision. According to Gartner, “Leader Quadrant vendors perform well, maintain a stable organization with a clear vision of market direction, and deliver excellent service quality and a comprehensive portfolio of network services across a wide geographical area. They also address the global networking needs of diverse enterprises in terms of business scale, geographical distribution, and vertical industries. Leader companies set the market direction through the expansion of service capabilities, the development of new class leadership capabilities and new commercial models, and the ability to build them.”

Under the Global Cloud Vision, NTT Com strengthened and expanded its networks, data centers, and other global ICT infrastructure. NTT Com’s recent initiatives include ‘Arcstar Universal One Multi-Cloud Connect.’ Through this, customers can directly connect to third-party cloud services in addition to NTT Com’s cloud services, and by this spring, they are expected to be able to connect to the company’s more than 30 data centers worldwide via a 10Gbps best-effort closed network. As a global ICT partner, NTT Com plans to continue expanding and upgrading its global network services to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of its customers’ global businesses.

SK Telecom First Applies AI-Based Network Operations at Gwanghwamun K-Pop Concert
SK텔레콤이 3월 21일 서울 광화문 일대에서 열린 대형 K-팝 공연에 AI 기반 네트워크 운영 시스템을 처음 적용해 통신 품질을 관리했다고 밝혔다. 공연 전후 3시간 동안 모바일 데이터 사용량은 12.15TB로 직전 주말 같은 시간대보다 약 2배 늘었다. SK텔레콤은 AI 시스템 ‘A-One’을 활용해 5분 단위, 50m 단위로 트래픽을 감시하며 과부하 가능성에 대응했고, 임시 통신 시설과 현장 인력 운영도 병행했다. 밀집 행사와 외국인 이용 수요가 동시에 늘어나는 환경에서 AI 기반 자율 네트워크 운영의 현장 적용 가능성을 확인한 사례로 해석된다.

ETRI Develops 200Gbps Photodetector… Initiates Localization of Optical Receivers for AI Data Centers
The Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) has developed a photodetector device that processes optical signals of approximately 200Gbps per channel for the first time in Korea. This device is a component that converts optical signals into electrical signals and determines the reception performance of AI data centers and 5G/6G communication networks. ETRI achieved bandwidth of 70GHz or higher and optical responsivity of 0.75A/W or higher, and integrated an indium phosphide lens on the rear of the chip to enhance optical reception efficiency and alignment convenience. The technology was presented at OECC 2025 and was recently published in the international academic journal 'Optics Express'.

SKT Receives International Standard for AI Data Center Interconnection Structure… Establishes Operating System Standards
SK Telecom's proposed AI data center interworking architecture has received final approval as an international standard at the International Telecommunication Union Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) conference. The core of this standard is the classification of AI data centers into three layers—service, management, and infrastructure—and the organization of signaling requirements between layers. As AI service proliferation increases the importance of interworking among various systems within data centers such as computation, power, cooling, storage, and security, this standard is significant in that it presents a common architecture for operations and service delivery. SK Telecom stated that it initiated the relevant standardization project in 2024 and achieved this approval following approximately two years of discussion.
