Using IoTMakers, an IoT platform, Dongbu Daewoo Electronics' home appliances are connected to the home IoT.

KT and Dongbu Daewoo Electronics announced that they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the Dongbu Daewoo Electronics headquarters building located on Teheran-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul for mutual cooperation in the development of IoT products in the home and industrial sectors, entry into the global market, and joint marketing.

KT will leverage its open IoT platform, IoTMakers, to support the network, software development, and verification of home IoT integration for Dongbu Daewoo Electronics' home appliances. Furthermore, KT plans to develop and supply industrial IoT solutions applicable to Dongbu Daewoo Electronics' global production plants, local subsidiaries, and branch offices.

Dongbu Daewoo Electronics, a global home appliance company with over 40 corporations and branches around the world and supplying products to approximately 150 countries, plans to actively pursue IoT-based smart home appliances through this agreement.

The two companies plan to continue their close partnership in the global marketing field, including the overseas expansion of home and industrial IoT services developed through their collaboration.

KT GiGA IoT Business Division Director Song Hee-kyung said, “We look forward to launching attractive IoT services in the home and industrial sectors through this business partnership with GiGA IoT Alliance partner Dongbu Daewoo Electronics,” and “We will continue to actively expand the IoT ecosystem through various business collaborations with approximately 270 partners.”

Kim Hyuk-pyo, Vice President of the Product Planning Team at Dongbu Daewoo Electronics, said, “Through our collaboration with KT, we expect to be able to provide IoT products optimized for our customers’ living environments,” and emphasized, “In the future, we plan to actively pursue the implementation of IoT services applicable to home appliances and industries, including IoT-based smart homes, by strengthening our cooperation in more diverse services.”
