As a standalone 2.4GHz Wi-Fi module requiring small form factor and high data throughput

Mouser announced the commencement of sales for Panasonic's embedded Wi-Fi place-and-play PAN9320 module. This fully embedded Wi-Fi module includes an integrated stack, full security suite, and API functionality to minimize firmware development.

The PAN9320 device is a standalone 2.4GHz Wi-Fi module that supports IEEE 802.11 b/g/n standards for application designs requiring small form factor and high data throughput. The PAN9320 module provides a cost-effective, power-efficient solution for WLAN applications.

The Panasonic PAN9320 available for purchase at Mouser Electronics is composed of a high-performance CPU, high-sensitivity (-98dBm) wireless radio, baseband processor, media access controller, encryption unit, patchable boot ROM, internal SRAM, and in-system 1MByte programmable flash memory. The module's integrated memory enables applications to store web content such as HTML pages and image data.

The PAN9320 module includes the capability to simultaneously perform access and infrastructure modes usable concurrently in smart devices and home network routers. The module's WLAN system-on-chip (SoC) firmware enables station (STA), micro access point (µAP), and Wi-Fi Direct mode applications. A distinctive feature is also the pass-through mode functionality, which enables unmodified data to be transmitted via the UART interface to the air interface of smart devices, web servers, or PC applications.

Mouser also sells the Panasonic PAN9320 evaluation kit that integrates the PAN9320 full embedded Wi-Fi module with a 32-bit microcontroller. The PAN9320 module and evaluation kit help wireless designers rapidly add WLAN support to image platforms, asset-monitoring applications, industrial control, medical devices, and smart energy accessories.
