STMicroelectronics (ST) is further expanding support for the industry's most powerful 32-bit flash microcontroller family, the STM32, by launching the affordable, compact development board STM32 Nucleo-144 series. This new 144-pin board enhances connectivity within the existing STM32 development ecosystem, enabling rapid application development regardless of which STM32 microcontroller is used, ranging from the most power-efficient devices to the highest-performance devices.

The new board is fully compatible with the existing STM32 development ecosystem, including various dedicated plug-in application expansion boards, allowing specialized functions ranging from motor drives to motion and environmental sensors to be easily integrated into end applications. It also offers infinite expandability through three types of connectors. In addition to the Arduino™ Uno and ST Morpho connectors provided on existing Nucleo-64 boards, the ST Zio connector has been included in this new board. These three connectors provide complete access to all STM32 general-purpose I/O pins, enabling the easy implementation of new features. Some STM32 Nucleo-144 boards are equipped with Ethernet and USB FS OTG ports, allowing for easy connection to LAN/WAN.

The entire embedded processing community, ranging from hobbyist developers and students to highly skilled professional system developers, can rapidly test, optimize, and commercialize new applications based on the industry's most popular, affordable, and efficient 32-bit microcontroller products with STM32 Nucleo-144 boards.

All STM32 Nucleo-144 boards come with an integrated ST-Link debugger/programmer, eliminating the need for a separate debug probe, and are compatible with the most popular development toolchains, including IAR EWARM, Keil MDK-ARM, and GCC/LLVM-based IDEs such as AC6 SW4STM32 or Atollic TrueStudio.

Since ARM® mbed™ support is scheduled for the new board in the second quarter of 2016, users will be able to freely access powerful ARM mbed online tools without having to install software.

Currently, four types of boards (NUCLEO-F746ZG, NUCLEO-F429ZI, NUCLEO-F446ZE, NUCLEO-F303ZE) are being supplied at $23 for the Ethernet version and $19 for the version without Ethernet.
