Total project scale of approximately 12 billion won, scheduled to open in July 2017

LG CNS, a leading domestic IT company in the smart transportation sector, has achieved another export success overseas. On the 4th, LG CNS announced that it had won the contract to build a feeder bus system for the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) in Malaysia.

This project is linked to the construction of the urban railway, which is currently the largest transportation project in Malaysian history, and involves applying smart technology to feeder buses connecting 31 MRT stations in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur with residential areas to optimize traffic flow.

A feeder bus is a type of bus route operated to complement the role of long-distance trunk buses and to ensure mobility within a specific area.

The total project scale is approximately 12 billion won, and it is scheduled to open in July 2017.

LG CNS is currently leading major transportation projects in Malaysia, including being selected as the contractor for the construction of the communication system for Malaysia MRT Line 1, worth a total of 140 billion won, in 2012.

The Malaysian government plans to invest a total of over 30 trillion won in urban railway construction, including the awarding of the MRT Line 2 project this year and the awarding of the MRT Line 3 project in the future.

Meanwhile, this contract win involves LG CNS independently developing a transportation solution and collaborating with major global companies in the transportation IT sector in Spain, Japan, Germany, and other countries.It is evaluated that the successful bid has proven the excellence of Korea's transportation IT.

The FMS (Fleet Management System) solution proposed by LG CNS is a system that optimizes bus operations by installing GPS receivers, vehicle terminals, and communication modems on buses to immediately transmit information such as bus location and operating speed to a central control center via a wireless network, and then collecting and processing this data in real time.

The AFC (Auto Fare Collection) solution is a fare collection system that covers various public transportation, such as buses, subways, and urban railways.

Lee Eung-jun, Senior Vice President of LG CNS’s Transportation Business Division, stated, “LG CNS has been successfully carrying out projects in Malaysia since 2011, starting with the Kuala Lumpur BTS (Bus Ticketing System), PSD (Platform Screen Door) systems, and MRT communication systems,” and added, “By successfully executing this urban railway feeder bus system, we will continue to pioneer markets not only in Southeast Asia but also in Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East.”
