The Atmel | SMART SAMA5D2 series is a high-performance, power-efficient embedded MPU based on the ARM Cortex-A5 processor, supporting advanced user interfaces and diverse peripheral connectivity. Additionally, it provides advanced security features through various hardware functions that protect memory contents, verify software stability, detect physical attacks, and prevent information leakage during code execution, including a powerful cryptographic accelerator and ARM TrustZone technology that securely protect memory access.

Supported peripherals include 10/100 EMAC, USBs, CAN-FDs, FLEXCOMs, UARTs, SPIs and two QSPIs, SDIO/SD/e.MMCs, TWIs/I2 C, etc.

The SAMA5D2 device features three software-selectable low-power modes: power saving mode, standby mode, and backup mode. In addition, there is a built-in event system that enables peripheral devices to receive, respond to, and transmit events in active and power-saving modes without processor intervention.
