Launch of the world's first single-chip positioning device applicable to various global navigation systems

– STMicroelectronics ( www.st.com ), a global leader in semiconductors for navigation and car infotainment, has launched a new single-chip standalone positioning receiver called Teseo II for Portable Navigation Devices (PNDs), in-vehicle navigation, and telematics. The Teseo II system-on-chip is the industry's first single-chip device capable of receiving signals from various satellite navigation systems, including GPS, GALILEO, GLONASS, and QZSS*. ST's Teseo II product family combines high positioning accuracy, indoor sensitivity, powerful processing capabilities, and excellent design flexibility.

ST's new Teseo II positioning device can capture location, velocity, and time data through all major global navigation systems, significantly improving accurate user location tracking and navigation performance in conditions with poor satellite visibility, such as between buildings in urban areas. The Teseo II chip also incorporates ST’s proprietary Self-Trained Assisted GPS™ technology, which improves the startup performance of location information devices in poor signal reception situations, so the signal acquisition time (TTFF: Time to First Fix, the time it takes for the GPS receiver to determine its current location after being powered on) is very short.
ST's new positioning SoC can be used in various types of electronic devices and automotive applications, including portable navigation, GNSS modules, marine equipment, exercise equipment, in-vehicle navigation, telematics, eCall, and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). The Teseo II family is an automotive-grade product designed to meet the stringent requirements of the automotive market. Teseo II has obtained AEC-Q100 certification, a key stress test certification for automotive ICs, and is manufactured using ST's rigorous automotive production flow methodology with the goal of zero ppm (parts-per-million) defects.
