Provides Image Stabilization, Autofocus Control, and H-bridge and Constant Current Drive Functions

ON Semiconductor has added the LC898123AXD, a next-generation optical image stabilization (OIS)/autofocus (AF) driver, to its portfolio. This enables smartphones, tablets, notebooks, and wearable devices to overcome the performance limitations of existing camera modules through superior autofocus and optical image stabilization technology, providing consumers with more advanced digital still camera and video experiences.

The LC898123AXD OIS/AF driver integrates a DSP core with various analog peripheral components to provide image stabilization, autofocus control, and H-bridge and constant current drive functions. Additionally, by incorporating on-chip flash memory, it stores DSP programs and calibration parameters, reducing by 90% the time required to load from existing memory during startup.

This highly integrated solution is compatible with multiple types of image sensors while enabling OIS and AF functions to execute rapidly within the camera module. The high level of integration technology in this chip also enables very thin camera modules.

The LC898123 improves battery life through best-in-class current consumption. The integrated DSP performance and flexibility support various VCM operations, and the high-performance 32-bit DSP optimized specifically for OIS/AF signal processing includes multiple functions such as servo control, gyro data filtering, and host command interface.

Additionally, the LC898123 provides an "advanced command" function that standardizes commands from the main CPU to the camera module, allowing handset developers to use standardized commands with various camera modules and actuators without replacing CPU software.

In addition to this product, ON Semiconductor also provides reference designs dedicated for camera module integration that can accelerate OIS/AF evaluation and reduce development workload.
