2.8VIN to 40VIN Supply and Compliance with IT Equipment Safety Standard UL60950

Linear Technology announced the launch of DC/DC µModule® regulators (model numbers: LTM8067/LTM8068) that provide 2kVAC galvanic isolation. The LTM8067 and LTM8068 integrate an isolated transformer, control circuitry, power switches, and other supporting components in a 9mm x 11.25mm x 4.92mm BGA package.

Design completion requires only a single resistor and input and output capacitors. Through pin creepage and clearance spacing and other features, these devices have obtained UL60950 safety certification for IT equipment. The LTM8068 additionally includes a low-noise linear regulator.

These products can be utilized for ground loop elimination in industrial automation and instrumentation equipment systems with mounted sensors or noise-sensitive loads.

The LTM8067 and LTM8068 operate over an input voltage range of 2.8V to 40V. Using flyback topology, the output voltage of each product can be regulated above, below, or equal to the input voltage. The LTM8067 provides maximum load current of 450mA and an adjustable output voltage range of 2.5V to 24V.

The LTM8068 features a low-noise linear regulator at the output stage, providing an output voltage range of 1.2V to 18V. The linear regulator reduces output voltage ripple to approximately 20µVRMS at 300mA output conditions, improving noise performance for precise signal conditioning and powering mixed-signal ICs.
