Cypress's new single-chip TrueTouch solution for tablet products,
Available on large touchscreens up to 11.6 inches!
Cypress Korea (Country Manager Lim Young-do www.cypress.com ) announced that a new high-performance single-chip TrueTouch solution is available for large multi-touch touchscreens up to 11.6 inches.
The new CY8CTMA884 family provides 60 sensing I/O channels with support for up to 884 nodes, more than any other single-chip solution on the screen. These additional sensing channels are essential for high accuracy, linearity, and support for small fingers, as well as the ability to handle multiple fingers held close together.

In addition, the new CY8CTMA884 offers all the advantages users expect from TrueTouch devices, including 10-finger touch support, low power consumption, exclusion of grip and palm, high accuracy, and fast scan times. All major tablet operating systems will be supported on this device family, and Cypress is working closely with major ITO sensor vendors to provide designers with flexibility, optimal performance, and quality.
Cypress's large-screen TrueTouch platform is expanding its leadership position from small-screen portable electronics, such as mobile phones and portable navigation devices, to large-screen portable PCs and tablets. This device is currently available, and mass production for customers is scheduled for the end of the first quarter.
“The tablet market continues its rapid expansion, and touchscreen performance is a key differentiator for these products. Cypress is the first company to provide single-chip devices to support the tablet market. This continues Cypress’s leadership in touchscreen solutions for both small and large form factors, as evidenced by agreements with several key customers,” said Lim Young-do, Country Manager of Cypress Korea.
Cypress provides the industry's most extensive portfolio of capacitive touchscreen solutions, including single-touch, multitouch gestures, and multitouch all-point capabilities. Cypress was the first company to introduce multitouch all-point capabilities capable of tracking more than 10 touches simultaneously. These multitouch all-point solutions have been in mass production since 2008. TrueTouch enables designers to implement differentiated features and iterate on designs at the last minute without board changes.
