LG Electronics demonstrated its innovative design competitiveness by winning a total of 28 awards, including 3 Gold Awards and 25 Main Awards, at the 'iF Design Award 2016'. The 3 Gold Awards represent the highest number of awards among participating companies.

The 'iF Design Award' is a globally prestigious international design competition that began in 1953 under the auspices of the German International Forum Design. This year, 5,295 designs were submitted from around the world, and 75 of them won the highest award, the Gold Award.

LG Electronics recorded the highest number of gold awards among participating companies, with three products—the LG Signature Refrigerator, LG Signature Washing Machine, and Gram 15—selected for gold awards. In particular, the LG Signature OLED TV and LG Signature Air Purifier also won main awards, achieving the remarkable feat of having all four LG Signature products win awards.

The LG Signature refrigerator is a product that features a transparent Magic Space, a new concept storage compartment known as a "mini refrigerator inside the refrigerator." Incorporating the 'Knock-on' feature from LG smartphones, double-tapping the Magic Space turns on the refrigerator's interior light and reveals the inside through the transparent window.

The judges also expressed surprise, noting that features such as the automatic door opening and knock-on provide an enjoyable experience for users.

The LG SIGNATURE washing machine combines a 12kg drum washing machine at the top with a 2kg Mini Wash at the bottom. It is a product that is noticeably differentiated from existing washing machine designs by applying a tempered glass door, a 7-inch circular touch-screen display control panel, and durable enamel material that provides a luxurious feel to the top drum washing machine, which features an integrated design combining the door and display.

The judges described the design of the LG Signature washing machine as purity itself, evaluating it as a product that satisfies both function and design.

The Gram 15 is a premium laptop featuring a large 15.6-inch (39.6cm) screen, an ultra-light weight of 980g, and an ultra-slim design of 16.8mm. This product has been certified by the Korea Record Institute as the lightest laptop of its size sold in the global market.

The judges evaluated the Gram 15 as an innovative product that is excellent in both functional and design aspects, noting that its slim design further enhances the overall image of the product.

In addition to three gold awards, LG Electronics won main awards for 25 products, including the 'LG Signature OLED TV,' which adds a luxurious feel by applying transparent tempered glass behind a thin 2.57mm OLED panel, the 'LG Signature Air Purifier,' which is designed with a transparent top so that the air purification process can be visually checked, and the 'Rolly Keyboard,' a four-fold foldable Bluetooth keyboard.

The 'iF Design Award' is considered one of the world's top three design awards, along with the 'Red Dot Design Award' and 'IDEA (International Design Excellence Award)'.
