LG Electronics Building VR Ecosystem Together with Google

LG Electronics' 'LG 360 CAM' has been officially certified as a Google 'Street View' compatible product.
The 'LG 360 Cam,' a 360-degree camera capable of shooting photos or videos for virtual reality (VR), is one of the 'Friends' of the 'LG G5' recently unveiled by LG Electronics.
This product adopts Google Street View's content standard and the Open Spherical Camera API (OSC), making it compatible with the Google Street View app. Users of the LG 360 Cam can upload captured content files directly to the Google Street View app without converting them after shooting.
Google recognized the technology and performance of the lightweight and portable 'LG 360 Cam' and certified it as a Google 'Street View' compatible product. LG Electronics is the only mobile phone manufacturer to receive certification as a Google 'Street View' compatible product. The 'LG 360 Cam' is set to be featured as a 'certified camera' on the Google 'Street View' site and app.
The 'LG 360 Cam' features three built-in microphones and supports 5.1 channel surround sound recording. It is also equipped with a 1,200mAh built-in battery, allowing for over 70 minutes of video recording. With a microSD card slot, storage can be expanded up to 2TB (terabytes).
Charles Armstrong, General Manager of Google Street View, said, “The certification of the LG 360 Cam’s compatibility with Google Street View is good news for consumers of 360-degree content, including over 500 million Street View app users,” adding, “The LG 360 Cam, which produces 16-megapixel images, will be a great choice for anyone looking to enjoy 360-degree content.”
"Although various devices and services related to 360-degree content have been launched, the most important thing is to enable users to comfortably enjoy 360-degree content anytime and anywhere," said Kim Hong-joo, Senior Vice President and Head of LG Electronics' MC Product Planning Group. "Through a strategic partnership with Google Street View, users will be able to easily create and freely share content within the mobile ecosystem, LG Playground."
