Toshiba Electronics Korea (hereinafter referred to as Toshiba) has launched the 'CANVIO Premium' portable external hard drive with a metal body design in Korea.

The new model 'Canvio Premium' external hard drive is an upgraded model of its predecessor, 'Canvio Connect 2', and its biggest features include a luxurious metal body design, security features (Password Protection), and a USB Type-C adapter. It is released with storage capacities of 1TB, 2TB, and 3TB.

'Canvio Premium' emphasizes a soft and luxurious image through the use of aluminum alloy metal with excellent heat dissipation and durability and diamond coating technology. In particular, in order to secure the shortcomings of metal materials that often show fingerprints, a special coating and surface oxidation treatment (alumite) to enhance corrosion and wear resistance were applied to prevent fingerprints as well as corrosion or discoloration caused by daily scratches or foreign substances, thereby enhancing the completeness of the overall design.

  Equipped with a 256-bit AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) encryption engine that provides a high level of security, it safely protects important data such as stored files, folders, photos, videos, and music by requiring the user to enter the set password even if the external hard drive is lost.

Unlike existing external hard drive products that could only be used in a PC-based environment, digital content such as photos, videos, music, and documents stored on the external hard drive can be remotely accessed from a mobile device.

If you install the Pogoplug program on a PC connected to a 'Canvio Premium' external hard drive, you can access data externally via smartphones, tablets, etc. without carrying the external hard drive, and you can also share content by sending web links. Additionally, 10GB of cloud storage space is provided free of charge for life, allowing you to conveniently back up and share content between smart devices in real time.

It supports convenient and fast backup and recovery functions optimized for the user environment, such as full system backup that can back up and restore not only general data but also the entire C drive of the PC where the operating system (OS) is installed, user-specified file and folder backup, cloud backup, automatic schedule backup, and security backup protected by the user password. In addition, you can minimize the risk of data loss by periodically backing up saved data by specifying a time or date.


While general external hard drives can only be used in either Windows or Mac environments, 'Canvio Premium' is equipped with the Mac-compatible program 'Tuxera NTFS for Mac' software, so it can be used on Windows and Mac simultaneously without a separate format change in macOS X 10.11/10.10/10.9/10.8/10.7 versions.
