LG Electronics’ ‘Stylus 2’ is the first smartphone to support the next-generation broadcasting standard ‘DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting)+’.

LG Electronics demonstrated the 'DAB+' method together with the International DMB Advancement Group (IDAG) at 'Radiodays Europe 2016,' the world's largest radio conference held in Paris, France.

LG Electronics plans to launch the 'Stylus 2', which supports 'DAB+', in major European countries such as the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and Norway, as well as Australia, this coming April.

'DAB+' is a next-generation digital broadcasting standard with a compression ratio approximately four times higher than the existing 'DAB'. It can operate 12 to 25 channels on a single frequency, which is more than twice as many as 'DAB'. Additionally, it enables CD-quality audio services. Since 'DAB+' utilizes over-the-air frequencies like standard radio rather than a data-consuming streaming method, no additional costs are required. The DAB system is currently used by 500 million listeners in over 40 countries.

LG Electronics MC Business Division President Cho Jun-ho emphasized, “To proactively respond to market changes, we have equipped the ‘LG Stylus 2’ with ‘DAB+’ for the first time in a smartphone,” adding, “We will continue to listen to the demands of the market and customers.”
