– Linear Technology Korea (CEO Hong Sa-kwak, www.linear.com ) announced the launch of a high-input voltage synchronous step-down DC/DC controller (Product Name: LTC3810H-5) that guarantees operational performance even at high temperatures of 150°C. Utilizing a fixed-on-time valley current-mode control architecture, this device provides not only very low duty cycles and extremely fast transient response but also precise inter-cycle current limiting without sensing resistors. This powerful controller can directly step down 60V voltage to output voltages ranging from 0.8V to 93% of the input voltage. Its powerful onboard 1 Ω (Ohm) gate driver minimizes switching losses associated with MOSFET driving for output currents of up to 25A at high frequencies and high voltages. This product is primarily used in applications such as 48V power conversion for telecom and datacom, as well as automotive and industrial systems that require compatibility with high-voltage surges.
The LTC3810-5 features a configurable minimum on-time function that can be set down to a minimum of 100ns, thereby providing a high step-down ratio at high frequencies. The operating frequency can be set between 100kHz and 1MHz or synchronized with an external clock within the same range. Pulse skipping operation can be configured to maintain high efficiency under light loads. Additionally, features such as programmable soft start or tracking, configurable inter-cycle current limiting, output overvoltage protection, a power good output signal, and programmable undervoltage lockout are provided.
