Held for two days starting May 19… This year’s first 'Global ICT Partnership Program'
Substantial results are expected, such as B2B partnerships between global telecommunications companies in ASEAN and elsewhere and domestic ICT firms.

The secretariat of 'World IT Show 2016' announced that it will hold the 'Global ICT Partnership Program' from May 19 to 20 at Hall A4 in the COEX exhibition center to support the establishment of B2B partnerships, technology exchange, and entry into overseas markets between global telecommunications companies and partners and domestic ICT companies.

'World IT Show 2016', hosted by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, is Korea's largest IT exhibition and conference where more than 400 domestic and international IT companies participate to introduce products and services in promising ICT fields such as 5G mobile communication technology, Internet of Things (IoT) products, virtual reality (VR), and O2O, which are receiving attention this year, while allowing participating companies from various fields, including startups, to promote new technologies and products to the market and expand networks among related companies.

The 'Global ICT Partnership Program,' a B2B event held to support the overseas expansion of participating companies, has been organized by the Korea Information and Communications Promotion Association since 2014. It identifies main project issues of major local telecommunications companies and vendors in developing countries and Asia, selects and invites telecommunications companies and partners that meet the needs of Korean companies, and supports 1:1 business matching with domestic companies; last year, the program was held five times.

This year, showcasing for the second time at 'World IT Show 2016' following the Korea-Finland Global ICT Partnership Program, SoutheastRepresentatives from major local mobile operators and vendors in Asia, as well as representatives from about 20 overseas telecommunications companies and partners who are interested in domestic ICT technology, are expected to attend.

In addition, substantive business discussions will be held with domestic ICT companies across a wide range of fields, including e-learning, mobile payment, Wi-Fi services, IPTV systems, optical communication cables and devices, network security, IoT, cloud, 4G and LTE technologies expected to attract significant interest from participants, and applications for smart devices.

At the World IT Show 2015 held last year, 15 major telecommunications companies from five countries, including Taiwan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand, participated in large numbers and signed global partnership agreements and MOUs with domestic companies. Contracts worth a total of $1.2 million were signed, including the promotion of educational terminals and localization services with Vietnamese telecommunications companies and partners, and supply contracts for the distribution of Korean content transmission rights with partners of Indonesian state-owned telecommunications companies.

Choi Hyung-kyung, team leader of the 'World IT Show 2016' secretariat, stated, "We plan to provide unsparing support in this program to help world-class domestic ICT companies create new markets in developing countries launching 4G and LTE services." He added, "Following the $100 million in contract performance from the previous year, 421 domestic and international companies, including those from 8 countries, participated in World IT Show 2015 and achieved $140 million in consultation results."

At the World IT Show 2016, the 'ICT Global Conference' and 'Global ICT Experts Conference' will be held to share the latest domestic and international ICT trends by inviting prominent international figures. Additionally, the 'New Product and New Technology Presentation,' which provides an opportunity for participating SMEs and startups to market their unique technologies and development achievements, will be held to support the expansion of domestic and international markets for participating companies and products.
