Poseidon Select™ provides innovative tools for heating and electrochemistry

Protochips announced the launch of the Poseidon Select liquid in situ inspection system.

This product, an enhanced version of Poseidon, allows scientists and engineers to observe materials and biological samples in various environments using a single holder with selectable heating and electrochemical options.

Whether studying electrochemistry or simply observing stationary, flowing, or heated liquids, Poseidon Select provides high-quality images of any sample in these environments while supporting general analytical techniques such as EDS (Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy). With a diverse family of E-chips and user-configurable systems, the possibilities for liquid research are endless.

Electron microscopes are essential tools for the development of nanomaterials for applications such as batteries and drug delivery. In the past, electron microscopes required samples to be observed in a vacuum, which severely limited the shapes of the samples and the amount of information collected. Poseidon Select overcomes these fundamental limitations by enabling scientists to view materials inside a liquid in real time while observing with an electron microscope.

From small particles like viruses to entire cells, biologists can dynamically study various types of samples contained in aqueous solutions down to the nanoscale. Materials engineers can examine samples such as catalysts, cosmetics, and paints, and electrochemists can utilize the resolution of the transmission electron microscope (TEM) to implement true real-time quantitative electrochemistry.

Poseidon Select introduces a heating package that ensures safe, accurate, and uniform liquid heating using closed-loop temperature control via the easy-to-use Clarity™ Software package. Poseidon Select also allows users to replace liquid lines without disassembling the TEM holder using replaceable tubes. Finally, Poseidon Select is the only liquid inspection system certified by FEI, JEOL, and Hitachi as safe for use in their instruments.
