Industry's First Fully Differential Attenuation Precision Amplifier Announced

Analog Devices ( www.analog.com ), a global leader in high-performance signal processing semiconductors, has introduced the industry's first Fully Differential Attenuating Precision Amplifier. The AD8475 amplifier can solve common problems in industrial, instrumentation, and medical applications that interact with single-supply ADCs with signals up to ±10 V.
The AD8475 can drive an ADC with up to 18-bit resolution and 4 MSPS (Million Sample Per Second) throughput while maintaining high accuracy as well as low power consumption. This amplifier features selectable attenuation gains of 0.4x and 0.8x and level shifting for differential inputs up to ±12V. The AD8475 is suitable for driving low-voltage, high-precision differential input SAR ADCs in high-voltage applications while saving board space and lowering power consumption.

In applications where signals of up to ±10V are coupled to a single-supply 5V or 3V ADC, the AD8475 simplifies the design by integrating two signal levels, eliminating the need for designers to use multiple components to achieve similar results. Based on high-performance specifications such as 10nV/√Hz output noise, 100MHz bandwidth, and a slew rate of 50V/µsec, the AD8475 can drive precision ADCs like ADI's AD7986 18-bit 2-MSPS ADC, AD7641 18-bit 2MSPS SAR ADC, and AD7622 16-bit 2MSPS differential ADC. Additionally, the AD8475 features a low distortion level of 110dB THD+N, making it suitable for driving high-speed sigma-delta ADCs.
