'2016 RTC' Opening, "We will advance mutual growth business models based on KT's superior infrastructure and platform"

On the 18th, KT (Chairman Hwang Chang-gyu, www.kt.com) announced that it will hold '2016 RTC' for three days until the 20th at the KT Daejeon Talent Development Center.

The RTC (Round-Table for Convergence), held under the theme of 'mutual growth through new growth business discovery,' is a growth program where KT, partner companies, and startups gather to present ideas and discuss commercialization strategies.

In particular, this year's RTC is expected to attract approximately 100 relevant experts from KT's related business divisions and employees, as well as from about 30 partner companies and startups. Above all, expectations are higher than ever as numerous Chief Technology Officers (CTOs) from startups possessing new growth-related technologies will participate.

Through this program, which KT has conducted in a hackathon format, the company has derived ideas in various fields and applied them to business operations.

The 2016 RTC will open with an opening lecture by Professor Jung Jae-seung from KAIST, who is renowned as a neuroscientist. Subsequently, groups will be divided by subject areas including 5G, next-generation media, Internet of Things (IoT), and intelligent security—KT's key focus areas for future growth—where relevant partner companies and startup CTOs will engage in candid discussions with KT business division employees.

Prashen Jung Seok-yeon, Director of Frasen, who participated in this event, said, "The process of materializing ideas has provided substantial benefits that could be directly applied to our company's management activities in the future."

Han Won-shik, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of KT SCM Strategy, stated, "What makes RTC most advantageous is that it enables the ideas of partner companies and startups to develop into business models by applying KT's superior infrastructure and platform."

Meanwhile, KT plans to establish a Business Cooperation Council with participating companies regarding the final business model items derived from this RTC. The goal is not to end as a one-time event but to produce concrete results through continuous follow-up work with partner companies and startups.
