Unveiled the world's first true single-layer multi-touch projected capacitive touchscreen technology
As the latest technology added to the IDT PureTouch product family, it simplifies the touchscreen sensor manufacturing process and improves light transmittance.
IDT ( www.idt.com , Country Manager for Korea: Sang-Yup Lee), an analog digital company leading the core mixed-signal semiconductor solutions market, has unveiled the world's first true single-layer multi-touch projected capacitive touch screen technology for screens up to 5 inches in size.
This latest technology added to the IDT PureTouch® product family simplifies the touchscreen sensor manufacturing process and eliminates multi-touch ghosting effects that commonly occur in self-capacitive multi-layer solutions.
IDT's single-layer multitouch sensor design is a true single-layer design that eliminates the need for additional mask steps for isolation at sensor intersections and connections between sensor matrix lines.
IDT's new solution has also succeeded in improving light transmittance by eliminating the additional Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) layer required in other multi-touch technologies. Furthermore, it has simplified the manufacturing process of touch screen sensors and reduced the overall cost burden for touch screen manufacturers. Despite all these benefits, it does not affect the functionality or performance of detecting multiple finger movements.
"With the explosive growth of touch interfaces for advanced portable devices, developers are providing a variety of innovative solutions," said Alvin Wong, General Manager of IDT's Advanced User Interface Group. "IDT's new touchscreen technology will play a role in empowering manufacturing companies to cope with this trend."
In addition, General Manager Alvin Wong stated, “While typical capacitive touchscreen sensors require up to three conductive layers, the single one independently developed by IDT.
